No matter what is happening externally, our homes are a place of warmth, comfort and love. They are a reflection of who we are – items we’ve collected over the years, pictures of memories and joyful things we love to use.
But our homes are multi-purposeful – they rarely are just places to relax and unwind like hotel rooms.
Homes can also be our workspaces, children’s play area, home gym, where we do our hobbies & interests, host book clubs and entertain friends & family.
This is why the concept of ‘mini sanctuaries’ are so transformational!
A sanctuary is a place dedicated wholly to a particular task or a particular feeling. Free from interferences and free from mediocrity!
I passionately share my Work Sanctuary guidance in my blog (here) to help create a focused and distraction-free work zone.
But I’m pleased to say that it doesn’t have to apply to just whole rooms. You can create mini sanctuaries sprinkled around your home.
These can be corners in rooms, a favourite piece of furniture or a space that is designed to be multi-functional and disappear when it’s not required (like a dining table).
The beauty is that it’s your home and you can create your dream sanctuary wherever you want, with minimal spending.
The secret is being INTENTIONAL! Let me guide you through the steps…
Make a list of what you do or what you would love to do in your home. This could be business related, a new habit or ritual, or a routine task you do that no longer feels as joyful for you. List everything that is sacred for you and your energy right now.
Next to each item on your list, write the emotions of how you desire to feel when you are doing this task. If could be focused, relaxed, calm, happy, peaceful… be honest and connect with the desired emotion.
Why do you love cooking? How do you want to feel working out? What feelings do you want while you’re building the business of your dreams?
Write where you do each task. Some will be obvious – baths in the bath! But others, you may notice that you don’t have a dedicated space for activities that are sacred to you.
Next, assess this space with new eyes and ask yourself whether this physical environment makes you feel the way you desire to feel. If you want to feel calm at bath time, does your bath area make you feel this way? If not, how does it make you feel?
Once you understand how your environment currently makes you feel and how you WANT to feel, you can be creative and decide what needs to transform. Bridge that gap, baby!
I passionately believe it doesn’t need to be an expensive makeover – it can be as simple as surrounding yourself with things that bring you joy, or removing items that don’t make you feel the way you desire. Removing clutter (read more here) or simply tidying up.
It all comes back to INTENTIONALITY. If you know how you want to feel, you can take action and create those feelings!
So… create that morning wellness sanctuary to complete your Miracle Morning Routine. Review your bedroom and align your sleeping space with how you wish to feel falling asleep. Find and adjust the perfect reading spot to read your favourite book for just 10 glorious minutes a day.
The more mini sanctuaries you create, the more your home will feel like a sanctuary aligned to who you are and who you DESIRE TO BE!
…and you can intentionally escape the chaos and enjoy your little place of heaven! Enjoy xxx
