Soul-led Mindset,
Manifestation + Empowerment Coach.
When you work from home, it is so important to create a designated space to work.
It may be your dining room table, or a corner of another room, or you may be fortunate to have a dedicated room. The important point here is that you establish a ‘Work Sanctuary’.
A Work Sanctuary is a space wholly designed for you and your business. It will be intentionally created to align with your greatest business desires and goals, energetically balanced, free from distractions and sprinkled with what brings you joy and inspiration.
Sound good?
It is – and after you have created your Work Sanctuary, you will wonder how you managed for so long without one before!
I get little body tingles just thinking about this! It’s going to blow your socks off.
Having your very own Work Sanctuary supports you stepping into “work you” when you’re working from home. The lines can become blurry, so having a dedicated space where you wear your “work hat” metaphorically speaking, is transformational alone.
But not all spaces are equal. That’s because our minds are beautifully complex things!
Our subconscious mind notices EVERYTHING – so colours, words, images, shapes, lighting, mess and energy is picked up and translated into thoughts and emotions.
What you might think as a simple workspace, actually creates chaos and overwhelm in your mind. This then affects your ability to focus, be creative and to feel calm. Your brain waves might be busier than you realise.
You are tripping yourself up by creating a busy mind from a busy environment.
The answer is to create an intentional, positive and inspiring workspace that supports the way you want to feel, think and behave in your business. This is your Work Sanctuary.
I like to think of this space as an extension of your business. As without a Work Sanctuary, you are making your business harder than it needs to be! Creating habits and rituals to maintain your Work Sanctuary should be non-negotiable, like having lunch (I hope you have lunch!!).
The first step to create a Work Sanctuary is to be clear who you are in your business. Your identity.
I dive deep into this identity work with clients and use visualisations too, but you can journal on this to start to understand the identity you desire within your business.
And from this, you can explore what feelings and emotions you WANT to feel while working.
This is your blueprint for creating your Work Sanctuary. Everything must intentionally align with this.
Once you have clarity on who you are in your business and how you desire to feel as a business owner, it’s time to release any belongings that do not support this.
I support you with this in my post – 5 Questions To Ask Yourself: When Decluttering Your Workspace. The purpose is to ensure everything in your Work Sanctuary is aligned with how you want to feel or it has a genuine business purpose. Anything else doesn’t deserve a place in your workspace.
Clearing clutter is an emotional process and often client’s feel a release of an old identity! It’s transformational work.
Everything is energy – it’s a fact! We are energy too and we subconsciously pick up on energetic messages so it’s vital that your Work Sanctuary is balanced and harmonious.
Clearing clutter is the first step as it removes any stagnant energy in your space and creates a better flow of energy. But there are so many more gorgeous ways to balance the energy within a space.
This is achieved through the beauty of feng shui practices. This is a much deeper subject which I will share on my blog.
A quick tip is to open your windows daily to encourage the circulation of energy in your space and to ensure clutter does not accumulate. Keep the room tidy and fresh as a foundational point.
This is the fun part – once you have a clear, balanced space, it’s time to align your space fully with you and your business. Using all the senses that you can!
The aim is to create a space that represents your dreams and intentions. You are creating a vision board within the whole space.
Be mindful of visual cues, colours, textures, sounds, smells, photos, text, pictures and shapes! Every one of these things will send a message to you and so it’s important that you intentionally place things in your Work Sanctuary that align with how you want to feel.
This part is often ever-evolving! As your identity grows and develops with time, so can your space. There is no ‘end product’ in feng shui.
I hope you enjoyed this introduction to creating your very own Work Sanctuary.
Having this purposeful space that is 100% designed to make you feel high-vibe and unstoppable will transform the way you show up in your business.
Your space is lifting you up – from a mindset, energy and emotional perspective! A vital part of you and your business journey.
